Skilled Bodyshop Panel Beater, Truro
1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
a. To ensure customer satisfaction in the repair of motor vehicles of all types.
b. To carry out such work in a safe and economical manner.
c. To employ such knowledge and skills as may be required to restore vehicles to an acceptable standard.
2. RELATIONSHIPS AND PERSONAL ACTIVITIES
2.1 Directly responsible to:
Service Manager or Bodyshop Manager.
2.2 Responsible for:
Safety, economy and accuracy of work of any assigned apprentice.
2.3 Relationships with:
Service Foreman, Receptionists, other Bodyshop Technicians and Apprentices and Parts Sales Persons.
3. OBJECTIVES AND KEY TASKS
3.1 Improve profitability:
a. To attain manufacturers' and/or estimated repair/paint times.
b. To report all faults, defects noticed whilst working on vehicles.
c. To take care of dealership equipment, special tools and personal tools.
d. To accurately report all components, materials and consumables used.
3.2 Customer satisfaction:
a. To protect customers vehicles with covers and dust sheets etc.
b. To safeguard the customers' vehicle and contents whilst being repaired.
c. To ensure that all work carried out meets acceptable safety and quality standards.
3.3 Cost control:
a. To ensure that all hours and material usage are accurately recorded.
b. To minimise wastage of all materials and consumables.

5. MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS
a. To repair or replace as necessary bodywork panels of damaged vehicles
b. To observe, recognise and report on vehicle structure and paintwork.
c. To interpret and implement technical service instruction data.
d. To indent for replacement parts and record usage.
e. Body repair - to be able to accurately use body realignment equipment.
f. To keep work areas clean and tidy.
g. To ensure that vehicles comply with safety standards when returned to customers, or that faults have been reported and noted on job card.
6. EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
a. To have served a recognised apprenticeship.
b. To have attained a City & Guilds qualification.
c. To have undertaken supplementary training courses.
d. To have experience in the body/paint repair of motor vehicles.
e. NVQ Level 3, Vehicle Refinishing, Level 2, Vehicle Body Fitting.
7. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR RESULTS
7.1 Sales volume:
a. Personal productivity to achieve target set by Manager for period
b. All vehicle and/or equipment faults/potential faults reported
a. All company repair/paint times to be achieved.
b. All hours, components, materials and consumables used recorded
7.3 Cost control:
Wastage of materials not to exceed target set by Manager for period
a. No customer vehicle or contents to be damaged/lost while vehicles under repair/awaiting insurer approvals
b. Assigned apprentice to have completed training schedule for day/week
After a 3 months probation benefits will include a pension scheme and the Rowes Employee Benefit Scheme which includes Perkbox.
Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30 and every other Saturday 08:30-12:30
A valid Driving Licence is required for this position.
